DMS, IIT Delhi

The tradition of imparting management education at IIT Delhi dates back to 1976. Over the years, management teaching has evolved and Department of Management Studies was formed in 1993 under IIT Delhi act. Students of DMS are placed in leading roles of BFSI, IT/ITES, Marketing, Operations, Consulting, Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management, HRM, Analytics and other areas.

The thrust of learning at DMS is on the synthesis of what is modern and latest with the traditional and ancient, so as to develop holistic managers. DMS, IIT Delhi, has consistently been ranked amongst the top Business Schools of the country.

Continuing Education Programme (CEP)
The Objectives of CEP:
To assist working professionals in the industry in widening their knowledge base and in improving their skills.
To assist the industry to be globally competitive and be at the cutting edge of technology by providing training and expertise in critical areas.

To promote strong industry-institute interaction.

Program Background
Supply chain management (SCM) is the management of an interconnected or interlinked between network, channel and node businesses involved in the provision of product and service packages required by the end customers in a supply chain.

Indian logistics industry is worth USD 50 billion and is growing at an exponential rate. It has a potential to grow a lot further.

Target Audience
This program is for executives with an acumen and interest in Logistics & Supply Chain Management. Participants with experience in this area will be preferred.

Program Coordinator – Prof. Ravi Shankar

Dr. Ravi Shankar is Professor, Group Chair of Sectoral Management, and Faculty Coordinator of MBA (Telecommunications Systems Management) at IIT Delhi.

His areas of interest include Supply Chain and Operations Management, Project Management, Six-sigma & Total Quality Management, Quantitative Methods for Managerial Decision Making, Knowledge Management, Strategic Technology Management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Competitive Manufacturing Systems, etc.

Prof. Shankar has an outstanding academic credential with a Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi India, M.Tech. (Industrial Engineering), M.B.A. (Systems & Operations Management) and Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). He was the University topper and gold medalist in both Bachelors and Master's Degree Programmes.


With a rich teaching experience of over 29 years, he has consulted to many reputed organizations such as Xerox India Ltd., National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF) Govt. of India, Project Development India Ltd., Continental Carbon, India Today Group of Publications, National Institute of Smart Governance (NISG), LML Kanpur, C. K. Birla Group of Companies, National Bearing Jaipur, Directorate of Technical Education Haryana, Buffalo Tours Hanoi, EMERALD UK, etc. As convener/member of different teams, he has contributed immensely to many Universities, Government bodies and Private Industries.

He has published over 300 research publications in reputed journals and conferences. He is the Executive Editor of Journal of Advances in Management Research.

Prof. Ravi Shankar has authored books on Operations & Supply Management (12th Edition: 2010), Industrial Engineering and Management (2nd Edition: 2009) Supply Chain Management (3rd Edition: 2008), Total Quality Management (2007), Technology Management (2013) and Enterprise Resource Planning (1998).

Schedule & Duration
One class per week for 3:00 hours on Thursday evening (6:45pm-9:45pm) IST.

The indicative modules can be enhanced/replaced at the sole discretion of Program Coordinator.

Conduct of Classes
The classes will be conducted from DMS, IIT Delhi. Select faculty members will conduct the classes. Each topic will be taught with the help of case studies, live corporate examples and general discussions. In order to provide greater industry insights, business leaders from the different industries, subject to availability, may be invited to share their experiences.

Within India
The classes will be made available in across the country through e-learning. The participants can also be given an option to connect from home.

Outside India
The program is also available outside India with a differential amount in fee.

Program Roll-out Schedule
The program will commence from August 2013 subject to minimum enrollments of 50 students.

Learning System
Industry tested learning system will be deployed for conducting the program. It will allow students to attend the classes from their offices or homes. A high-speed broadband internet connection is essential for students to participate in the program.

Initially the candidates will need to send across the application forms with Application Fee only. Other fees will be payable only after acceptance in the program. The fee is inclusive of service tax.

In case a candidate is not accepted in the program then the application fee will be refunded. However, if a student does not join the program after being accepted then then application fee will not be refunded.

Domestic students can also pay fee in installments or through a bank loan.

International (USD)

2nd Installment: Rs. 15,000 on 2nd Month
